The situation escalated when No 10 demanded changes to the article, but Braverman ignored the request. As her claims sparked a furious outcry, one Conservative minister broke ranks and accused her of fueling “hatred and division.”
Leaked WhatsApp messages between Tory MPs have revealed discord within the party, with Braverman’s backers and supporters exchanging heated messages regarding her comments on the police.
George Osborne, the former Tory chancellor, has also weighed in, stating that the Prime Minister risks looking weak if he decides not to remove Braverman from her position.
Braverman has been accused of “fanning the flames of hate” towards Muslims due to her attacks on pro-Palestine rallies, which have prompted concerns about her role in fueling “hatred and division.”
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on British Muslims, a cross-party committee of MPs, criticized the Home Secretary’s rhetoric, describing the demonstrations as “hate marches” and warning that her words are inspiring far-right groups to engage in Islamophobia.
