Ryan Gosling Reveals Hilarious Reason For Wanting To Revisit A Role

It's called "hamburger hands." Ryan's background in dance might have led him to believe that it would help him in his role in "La La Land," but as he humorously confessed, "Hamburger hands Gosling over here... it didn't help me at all, in the end."

When it comes to Ryan Gosling films, it’s hard to imagine one that would need a do-over. However, the actor himself recently revealed that there is one role he would love to revisit, and the reason behind it is quite unexpected.

In a video interview with Wall Street Style, Ryan discussed his upcoming film “The Fall Guy,” the success of “Barbie,” and his life as a dad. But it was when the interviewer asked him, “What’s the one role you’d like to do over?” that Ryan’s answer took everyone by surprise.

Despite being a huge success, with its magical movie musical vibe and the undeniable chemistry between Ryan and Emma Stone, Ryan confessed that “La La Land” is the one film that still “haunts” him. But why?

It all comes down to a particular moment during the dance scene for the song “A Lovely Night,” which actually inspired the film’s iconic poster. In this scene, the choreography required both actors to put their hands in the air. However, Ryan had a different idea.

Rather than following the choreography and pointing his hand upwards like Emma, Ryan decided to flatten his hand instead. He thought it would be “cool,” even though everyone advised against it. Little did he know that this simple gesture would become his biggest regret.

During the interview, Ryan gestured with his flattened-out hand, referring to it as his “La La Hand.” He admitted, “I thought it’d be cool to put my hand like that, even though everyone told me it wasn’t cool.” It’s clear that Ryan still regrets his decision.

But What’s the Deal with “Hamburger Hands”?

The interviewer then informed Ryan that his unconventional hand gesture is actually a real thing in the dance world.

It’s called “hamburger hands.” Ryan’s background in dance might have led him to believe that it would help him in his role in “La La Land,” but as he humorously confessed, “Hamburger hands Gosling over here… it didn’t help me at all, in the end.”

Despite Ryan’s regrettable hand gesture, “La La Land” went on to become a massive success. The film received a staggering 14 nominations at the Oscars, ultimately winning six awards, including Best Director, Best Score, Best Original Score, and Best Actress for Emma Stone.

So, while Ryan Gosling may still cringe at his “La La Hand,” it’s safe to say that his performance and the overall magic of the film overshadowed this small misstep.

And who knows, maybe one day he’ll get the chance to revisit the role and redeem himself by keeping his hands in the air, just like everyone else.
