Teenager Dies After A Rampage Sparked In A South Wales Takeaway

Police officers and the emergency services hastened to Bagalan Street, Treorchy in the Rhondda, following reports of a stabbing. A knifeman reportedly went on a “rampage” in a Chinese takeaway.

Following the attack the 16-year-old girl involved succumbed to death, South Wales police reported. It is believed that the girl`s grave injuries were due to a knife attack, although it has not been confirmed as a post morterm examination is yet to be conducted.

A lady who witnessed the events was heard screaming and the neighbours reportedly saw “a lot of blood”.

The family of the deceased are getting support from specially trained family liason officers while afforts are being made to contact the other relatives the force said.

Two men were arrested in connection with the attack but remain in hospital for treatment after suffering serious injuries. Police said the incidents are not being treated as terror attacks.

“It is understood that those involved are known to each other,” the police said in a statement.

Superintendent Rich Jones, from South Wales Police, said: “This is clearly a very serious incident which has caused significant shock and concern for both the local and wider community.

“We have a dedicated team of detectives working hard to establish the exact circumstances that have led to the tragic death of this young girl.

“While the investigation is still in its early stages, we can confirm that those involved are understood to know to each other and we are currently not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

“There will be significant police presence in Baglan Street over the weekend but we will reopen the road at the earliest opportunity.”
