Will Ferrell’s Pride Month Joke Steals The Show At Las Culturistas Culture Awards 2025

Will Ferrell brought plenty of laughs to the fifth annual Las Culturistas Culture Awards after accepting one of the night’s top honours and delivering an unexpected speech about Pride Month.

The ceremony, held on Wednesday 17 June, was hosted by actors and podcast stars Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, whose popular Las Culturistas podcast inspired the tongue-in-cheek awards event.

The evening featured a series of unusual and comedic award categories, celebrity appearances and memorable acceptance speeches, with Ferrell among the standout moments of the night.

Will Ferrell Delivers Humorous Pride Month Speech After Titan Of Culture Win

The Barbie star received the Titan of Culture award before taking to the stage with a speech that quickly drew laughs from the audience.

The actor began by saying: “Be proud of yourself. I think we should all celebrate our pride.

“For example, I have pride about being an actor and a filmmaker, but I also have pride about being a husband to a wife.

“I guess what I’m saying is I’m proud to be straight. God, it feels good to finally say that,” Will joked.

He then continued: “The second, more important thing after pride is to be happy, be joyful, be gay. Have gay pride! Starting this month, I hereby declare June… Pride Month!”

June is already recognised as Pride Month and has been observed for decades.

Las Culturistas Awards Highlights Include Lisa Kudrow, RuPaul And Wanda Sykes

The event celebrated a wide range of figures from entertainment and pop culture through its distinctive award categories.

Earlier in the ceremony, co-host Matt Rogers described the event as “a huge queer celebration honouring actresses, lady musicians, and randomly, Will Ferrell.”

Among the night’s notable moments, Friends star Lisa Kudrow was treated to a unique performance of the show’s famous song Smelly Cat by Pitch Perfect actor Ben Platt.

Comedian Wanda Sykes received the Eternal Lesbian Of The Pop Culture Mind award, while RuPaul’s Drag Race icon RuPaul Charles was honoured with the Artist of the Millennium award.

Other unconventional winners included the word “Ricochet”, which picked up the prize for Most Beautiful Name for a Daughter You Haven’t Even Thought of Yet.

Meanwhile, Hacks star Hannah Einbinder finally secured the All Good Either Way Award for Bisexuality In Media, one of the ceremony’s most talked-about accolades.

Las Culturistas Culture Awards Continue To Celebrate Queer Pop Culture

Now in its fifth year, the Las Culturistas Culture Awards have become known for blending comedy, entertainment and queer culture with unconventional honours that celebrate both celebrities and pop culture phenomena.
