Working from home is the new norm. Twitter streets have been buzzing with posts under hashtag working from home, a new norm for many.
The shutdown has really transformed the ideas around the traditional workplace. Home has had to transform into a place of work. Home where the kids are, or our partners are or our mothers are. Home where everything is personal.
Companies have had to put measures in place for employees to be able to work remotely. That means meetings on Zoom, video call after video call of discussions and working. Or is it?
On twitter the hashtag #workingfromhome has been accompanying cute posts of pets at home. Pets seemingly content to have their human friends home. Parents attach cute little toddlers popping up behind their laptops.
The change from commuting to and from work has been a welcomed change for some. Those that like the idea of having longer mornings and breaks in between for that snack or the occasional walk.
Parents though have had to do so much adjusting because the children are at the house too. So it is a little understandable for the people who cannot wait to be able to go back to work and maintain that safe and clear distinction between work and personal life.
Experts say that this may not always be the case though. Working remotely under covid19 shutdown is more the case here and that working remotely under so-called normal life will not be quite the same.
The kids may be at school and all family and friends absorbed in their day to day activities. This may allow you to plan your days and still manage to maintain that work and home distinction. Then one can really be able to tell whether they like working remotely or not.
Twitter has recently announce that it will allow its employees to choose whether they want to work remotely or not. The eventual transition from 4g to 5g will completely transform what it is to be on the internet. So more companies may eventually follow in their footsteps.
