As diplomatic efforts to end the war continue, Ukraine and Russia escalated their drone warfare overnight. The governor of Russia’s Astrakhan region reported that Ukrainian drones targeted energy facilities and other key sites.
Despite the attacks, officials assured residents that the situation remains “under control.”
Russia Shoots Down Dozens of Drones from Ukraine
Russia’s defense ministry claimed to have intercepted and destroyed 72 Ukrainian drones overnight. Among them, 13 were taken down over Astrakhan, while a staggering 36 were neutralized over the Kursk region—an area where Russian forces have recently gained ground.

Meanwhile, the Zelenskyy-led country faced its own wave of Russian drone strikes. Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, stated that air defense units worked through the night to repel the attack.

In a firm statement on X this morning, Andriy Yermak, newly-formed peace delegation, reinforced Ukraine’s stance: “Russia continues to attack, Ukraine is responding to the attacks and will respond until Putin stops the war.”
