Twitter changes its official handle from @Twitter to @X. If you try to access @Twitter, it now displays the message: “This account is no longer active. Follow @X for updates.”
All previous @Twitter tweets are now accessible on the @X account. But that’s not all.
The Twitter Blue subscription service is now referred to as @XBlue (Blue subscription) on the main description page.
As a result, most older official Twitter handles have either abandoned the Twitter name or replaced it with X. For example, @TwitterSupport, @TwitterDev, and @TwitterAPI are now known as @Support, @Xdevelopers, and @API.
Yesterday, Twitter did not own the @X handle, which was held by Gene X Hwang, a user affiliated with Orange Photography, a photography/video studio, according to SurgeZirc.
However, the ownership changed today, and Hwang tweeted from a new handle expressing satisfaction with the resolution. It is hoped that he received some form of compensation for relinquishing the name.
X has been diligently working to eliminate all traces of Twitter branding, including partially dismantling the Twitter sign at its San Francisco HQ until the police intervened due to a lack of a permit.
