US President Donald Trump has circulated a clip from “Saturday Night Live UK” that lampoons Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s response to the escalating Iran conflict and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
The sketch, featuring comedian George Fouracres as Starmer, portrays the British leader as hesitant to engage directly with Trump. In the segment, the fictionalised prime minister seeks guidance from a Gen-Z adviser on maintaining the UK’s “special relationship” with Washington.
“I’ll do anything, except take a stand,” Fouracres’ Starmer quips in the clip, underscoring the satirical tone of the programme.
Trump-Starmer Tensions Over Iran Conflict And Military Access
Relations between Trump and Starmer became strained following the outbreak of the Iran war. The US leader criticised the prime minister for what he described as delays in granting permission for American forces to operate from British bases.
Initially, Starmer declined to allow US strikes on Iran to be launched from Diego Garcia, a strategic UK-controlled base in the Indian Ocean. However, the UK later reversed its position as the regional situation intensified.

Earlier this month, Trump voiced frustration, saying that “the U.K. has been very, very uncooperative with that stupid island that they have,” referring to Diego Garcia.
UK Authorises Use Of Diego Garcia Amid Strait Of Hormuz Threats
Following Iran’s attacks on neighbouring countries, the UK government confirmed that US bombers would be permitted to operate from Diego Garcia and another British base to target Iranian missile sites.
On Friday, officials clarified that these operations would include strikes against locations linked to attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global trade route.
