A Bloomberg report shows that Amazon had emailed its workers to alert them that one of their employees tested positive for the deadly disease coronavirus.
Amazon confirmed that the employee works in Seattle, at its South Lake Union offices and had gone home feeling sick on the 25, February 2020.
The case reported by Bloomberg in this article is not the first Amazon employee that was confirmed to test positive for coronavirus after two employees in Italy tested positive. The company has already limited travel plans and backed out of events like GDC.
Considering the location of Amazon’s headquarters in the US, it will not be shocking to hear that the tech giant is among the first big companies with a confirmed case in the United States, with all nine confirmed deaths from COVID-19 occurring in Washington.
Amazon has said through its spokesperson in a statement: “We’re supporting the affected employee who is in quarantine.”
Although it is not clear yet what the company is doing to prevent other employees from coming in contact with the coronavirus.
