Simon Cowell was missed on America’s Got Talent but after undergoing back surgery this past weekend due to an electric trail bike accident, everyone is just glad that he is alive and getting better.
AGT co-judge Howie Mandel has said Simon is ‘doing spectacularly well’ after his back surgery.
Having gone through six hours of surgery to insert a metal rod into his spine on Saturday night, after breaking his back in several places due to falling off his new electric trail bike, Simon is now well on his way to recovery.
The accident left him unable to appear as a judge on America’s Got Talent, though Howie admitted that he would not be shocked if Simon came back before the end of this years’ show.
Speaking to E! News about AGT and how Simon is doing, Howie said: “We were a little bit in disarray because we were worried. We were worried about our friend, and our boss and our leader, Simon Cowell, who we hear is doing spectacularly well, considering.”
Howie went on to say: “The latest I’ve heard is that after a six-hour operation, and some fused discs, and the rod put in his back, yesterday, he was up on his feet, already, he’s already mobile!”
“So, as I’ve been saying to a few other people, I wouldn’t count out seeing Simon again before this season’s end.” – Howie added.
Heidi Klum, who is also a judge on AGT, revealed that she is amazed that Simon is up and about so soon after the accident.
“Who knows maybe next week he will be sitting there with us again, at the speed he’s going!” – Heidi said.
While Simon has been recovering Kelly Clarkson had taken his empty seat as a guest judge on America’s Got Talent that had aired its first live show on Tuesday from Universal Studios Hollywood.
Simon took to Twitter to thank her after the first episode aired, he wrote: “Thank you @KellyClarkson. Miss all of you. What a Great Show. #AGT.” –

“Best of luck to all the contestants that made it through tonight! #AGT” – She added.

Simon is set to undergo weeks of intensive physical therapy before he can return to work, even though he is already back on his feet walking around and even taking work calls.
A source also told The Sun that it could take Simon a long while to heal from the accident and that he may have to wear a back brace.
The source said: “He has a long and difficult road ahead. It’s going to take him weeks, and maybe months, to get back to where he was. And if ignores the doctor’s orders then it will be very bad news for him long term.”
So as Simon Cowell is encouraged to get better soon and back on AGT, let it also be remembered that he still needs time to recover from his back surgery and heal properly.
