Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have stopped a deliberate plan to name an Australian fire-fighting plane after their baby Archie. Without bad intentions, the New South Wales (NSW) government plan on commemorating the fact that Meghan Markle announced her pregnancy during a royal tour to Australia in 2018 by calling the plane, Archie.

According to the Sydney Sunday Telegraph, Meghan and Harry politely declined the request immediately it was presented to them by the state government.

It was reported that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex thanked the NSW authorities for their “kind offer”, but said they would decline the offer on the ground that baby Archie hadn’t entered public life yet.

Alternatively, the NSW government named the plane after an ex-state governor, Marie Bashir.

Meghan and Harry went to Australia on a sixteen-day tour in October 2018, which also included visits to Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.

The visit down under coincided with the staging of the Invictus Games in Sydney, a sporting event created and organised by Harry for injured military personnel.

Baby Archie is fast approaching his first birthday, which will be in May and is presently self-isolating in Los Angeles with his parents as the family ride out the storm caused by the COVID-19 health crisis.
