The Rising Tory MP Douglass Ross penned a letter of resignation to the Prime Minister, stating his reasons for resigning are inherently due to Dominic Cummings being excused for breaking lockdown restrictions. Douglass Ross’ shocking resignation comes directly after Mr Cummings’ official statement.
Scotland’s Junior Minister known as the rising minister within the cabinet, wrote in a letter to the Prime Minister detailing his reasons for resigning are mainly due to Dominic Cummings not being held accountable for his actions
Dominic Cummings released a statement on Monday, addressing the allegations against him for breaching lockdown restrictions, multiple members of parliament and the public demanded that Dominic Cummings rather resign after the debacle, however he did not do this.
In a time where the general public of the UK have been instructed to follow the lockdown measurements, knowing the punishment that awaits anyone who disobeys these rules and regulations, however the same procedure is not applied to a government official it seems.
“I have never met Dominic Cummings so my judgement on this matter has always been open and I accept his statement on Monday afternoon clarified the actions he took in what he felt were the best interests of his family.” said Mr Ross.
He continues to note that the public have had to make sacrifices that consist of not seeing ill family members, his own counterparts having to choose policy over their moral instincts when wanting to break lockdown rules to go see and assist family members.
“I have constituents who didn’t get to say goodbye to loved ones; families who could not mourn together; people who didn’t visit sick relatives because they followed the guidance of the government.
He essentially denounced the actions of Mr Cummings, finding no reason justifiable enough and therefore opted for resignation, in addition to his Mr Ross foresees future problems arising in terms of the public’s trust towards government officials due to the way that this situation was handled.
