Reese Witherspoon brings Netflix two strong female-led romantic comedies. These rom-coms will be titled ‘Your Place Or Mine’ and ‘The Cactus’.
Witherspoon will be producing these projects through her Hello Sunshine company along with a few others who have climbed on board.
‘Your Place Or Mine’ will be jointly produced by Hello Sunshine’s Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Nuestadter, with Aggregate Films’ Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan.
The project will be directed by screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna who directed ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and ‘27 Dresses’.
‘Your Place Or Mine’ plays out as two long-distance best friends who find their lives changed when she goes off to live out her lifelong dream while he stays behind and volunteers to watch over her child.
Michael Costigan told Deadline: “This is the perfect home for our movie, and with the ideal creative partners to be making a sophisticated and very contemporary romantic comedy that we believe global audiences will be excited to see.”
‘The Cactus’ will be produced by Hello Sunshine’s Witherspoon and Nuestadter.
‘The Cactus’ is an adaption of the New York Times bestseller novel ‘The Cactus‘ by Sarah Haywood, which is the story of a 45-year-old woman exploring a new path after she falls unexpectedly pregnant.
Reese Witherspoon told Deadline that “both Sarah Haywood’s and Aline Brosh McKenna’s stories blend everything we love about traditional RomComs with strong, smart and determined female leads.”
Witherspoon has made her name seen in a few comedies such as ‘Legally Blonde’, ‘This Means War’, ‘Home Again’ ‘Election‘, and many others. She has most recently starred and produced shows such as ‘Big Little Lies’ on HBO, ‘The Morning Show’ on Apple, and ‘Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere’.
Now it’s time to take on these strong women leads as Reese Witherspoon brings them forth in these two upcoming films and shows us what she’s really made of.
