Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have encountered another setback at their production company, Archewell, as another staff member has resigned.
Bennett Levine, who joined Archewell as a coordinator in 2021 and was later promoted to manager in 2022, recently announced his departure from the company on social media.
When Levine initially joined Archewell, his appointment was lauded by author Omid Scobie, who has been referred to as Meghan’s “mouthpiece,” as a “hive of activity that continues to grow.”
However, his exit marks yet another departure from the company, which was established by the couple in 2020. The news of Levine’s resignation comes just months after Meghan expressed excitement about the numerous projects in the pipeline for Archewell.
During a red carpet appearance, she stated, “Things that make people feel – I was going to say ‘good,’ but it’s more than that – things that make people feel something, right?”
Levine took to his social media accounts to share his new role at Cinetic Media, expressing his enthusiasm for the opportunity. Meanwhile, a source told the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden that Levine’s departure is a blow to the company.
Amidst Levine’s career transition, rumours have been circulating that Netflix may not renew its multi-million-pound deal with Archewell.
Reportedly, the streaming service paid Meghan and Harry £80 million as part of a five-year agreement. Signed in 2020, shortly after the couple stepped down from their royal duties, the contract is set to expire in 2025.
During his tenure at Archewell, Levine was involved in the production of the couple’s highly controversial six-episode docuseries, “Harry and Meghan.”
Despite the challenges faced by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in their production endeavours, it is important to note that setbacks and staff changes are not uncommon in the entertainment industry.
Many production companies experience fluctuations in personnel as projects evolve and priorities shift.
While the departure of a key staff member like Bennett Levine may be seen as a setback, it is crucial to maintain perspective and recognize that it does not necessarily indicate the demise of Archewell or the couple’s ambitions in the entertainment world.
As with any business venture, the success of Archewell will depend on various factors, including the quality and appeal of the content it produces, the strength of its partnerships, and its ability to adapt and navigate the ever-evolving entertainment landscape.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have demonstrated their determination and passion for making a positive impact through their philanthropic endeavours. They will likely approach their production company with the same dedication and commitment, despite the challenges they may face along the way.
While the departure of Bennett Levine is undoubtedly a loss for Archewell, it is an opportunity for the company to regroup, reassess its strategies, and potentially bring in new talent that can contribute to the growth and success of the organization.
