Pete Davidson, 29, is actively addressing his past actions, following a car crash that occurred four months ago in Beverly Hills.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that Davidson has enrolled in an 18-month diversion program after being charged with reckless driving in June.
As part of the program’s requirements, Davidson must complete 50 hours of community service, which he can carry out at the New York City Fire Department. This holds special significance as his late father, Scott, was a firefighter who tragically lost his life during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
In addition to the community service, the former Saturday Night Live star must attend 12 hours of traffic school and participate in educational visits to a morgue or hospital. Furthermore, Davidson is obliged to pay restitution and abide by all laws, as mandated by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The New York City Fire Department has expressed its willingness to warmly welcome Davidson and offer him the opportunity to fulfill his community service obligation with them. “As the son of a 9/11 hero, we would be happy to provide Mr. Davidson an opportunity to do his required community service,” the department stated.
TMZ was the first to report this development.
The car accident occurred on March 4 when Davidson collided with a fire hydrant in Beverly Hills. His girlfriend, actress Chase Sui Wonders, was with him at the time of the incident.
According to TMZ, Davidson was driving at high speed and lost control of the vehicle, leading to the collision with the fire hydrant and a nearby residence. Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash.
The Beverly Hills Police Department had responded to the report of the accident around 11 p.m. that night, and Davidson was confirmed to be in the vehicle. While Lieutenant Christopher Coulter did not confirm whether Wonders was also in the vehicle or if Davidson was the driver, an accident report was taken for the city property damage.
In June, Davidson was officially charged with one misdemeanor count of reckless driving, an action that the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office deemed as having potentially severe consequences. Fortunately, no serious injuries resulted from the collision.
“We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately resulted in his involvement in a serious collision into a home,” a spokesperson for the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
“Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision,” the statement continued. “We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences.”
Since late 2022, Davidson has been in a relationship with his “Bodies Bodies Bodies” co-star, Chase Sui Wonders. According to a source, their relationship is going strong, and Davidson deeply cares for her. Taking their time with the relationship, they are super close and very happy together.
