The Paris Saint-Germain star, who may be leaving the club soon should bidders hit the benchmark, donated part of the money to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and sent the rest to a charitable fund that was created by his friend “Luciano Huck”, a Brazilian TV presenter.

Efforts made to reach Neymar for details was unfruitful as his press office declined to comment, saying: “We never talk about donations or amounts.”

Neymar who’s currently 28, actively joined in the footstep of his PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe, who last month donated handsomely, although the amount was not disclosed to the media, it was sent to a French charity to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Luciano Huck, who has been linked to a possible presidential election candidate in Brazil’s 2022 general elections, launched his fund initiative to help poor Rio de Janeiro neighbourhoods, mostly those who’re more vulnerable to coronavirus pandemic.

Neymar’s donations come after world high-paid football stars come under pressure to let go part of their salaries amid the coronavirus outbreak, which has placed a stop on the sporting world and left some clubs battling to pay their staff salary.
