The film proved to be a major force at this year’s awards, earning 16 nominations and taking home four trophies. Jordan appeared visibly stunned when last year’s winner Adrien Brody announced his name. He paused to share the moment with his mother before embracing Coogler and acknowledging co-star Delroy Lindo.

While Sinners secured four awards, One Battle After Another emerged as the night’s biggest winner, claiming six honours including Best Picture and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson.
Sean Penn earned his third Oscar for his role in the same film, although he did not attend the ceremony. The Best Supporting Actress award went to Amy Madigan for Weapons, beating nominees including Teyana Taylor and Wunmi Mosaku.
