Labour and Green Party supporters have clashed over campaign posters outside the Green Party’s office in Gorton and Denton ahead of the by-election.
With just ten days until voters in the Greater Manchester constituency head to the polls to elect a new MP, rivalry between the two left-leaning parties is escalating as both seek to position themselves as the strongest challenger to Reform UK.
Over the weekend, neighbouring terraced houses became a visual snapshot of the contest. Campaign posters for the rival parties appeared side by side, underscoring the increasingly competitive fight for support.
Gorton and Denton By-Election Poster Dispute Intensifies
A poster backing Labour candidate Angeliki Stogia was placed on a wall next to the Green Party’s local office by a neighbouring property owner.
Shortly afterwards, images emerged showing fresh campaign material supporting Green candidate Hannah Spencer displayed in a window of the same building, directly beneath Stogia’s poster.
The Green Party said the tenants of the property had put up the posters in support of their candidate.

Andrew Western, Labour’s political lead for the by-election and MP for Stretford and Urmston, claimed the positioning of Labour’s advert close to the Greens’ headquarters sent a clear message.

Labour and Greens Compete to Block Reform UK Surge
A Green Party spokesperson insisted that the residents of the property remain supportive of their party.
“The landlord put it up, yet the tenants have Green posters in the window. It’s a sign of the state of politics now – Labour prioritises landlords and Greens prioritise tenants.
“Labour know this election is now Reform versus Green but of course they don’t want to lose too badly and they’re fighting for every vote, even if that means Reform win.”
The by-election has developed into a tightly fought three-way contest between Stogia, Spencer and Reform UK candidate Matt Goodwin. Both Labour and the Greens argue they are best placed to prevent a breakthrough for Reform, as campaigning enters its final stretch.
