Justin Bieber is going through changes. Just kidding, but he did just drop an album called Changes so he may have gone through some changes. He has definitely evolved from the young boy with blonde bangs that we met almost a decade ago.
You may hate me for saying this but it is such a relief! Scrolling through his Instagram feed one can see that the recently wedded Bieber is really happy. His voice has also reached a more mature harmony since his “Baby baby” days. But he can still pitch higher than most male vocalists in the game.
Some of the visuals of the album are somewhat dark. Most feature choreographed dance pieces to accompany a recurring romance inspired theme. The choreographers featured on the videos are Jaya Vankova, Ian Eastwood and Siena Lalau to name a few.
Jaya’s puppet inspired choreography is dark and eccentric, contrasting most of the other light-filled visual scenes in the album. Bieber himself only features a few of the visuals. The Yummy video where he can be spotted wearing pink hair is probably the most popular in the album.
His most moving lyrical song is Nature Visuals. A simple video that lets nature do the most talking. The song seems to express the qualms of a man and love. Touching on his album title the man is “going through changes”.
A vulnerable revelation of good intentions under the winds of life. Who can dare claim they cannot relate to changes. Each day brings a different light to each of us. Bieber features artists such as Post Malone, Travis Scott, and Quavo to name a few.
Having listened to the album, there is no doubt that this is an expression of love for the artist. The paired choreography, expressing with their bodies’ relationships between two people in love. The complexity of love.
Especially the potential of love to bring changes in both individuals. Bieber seems to have dug deep into his experience of love to produce this work. In one way or another, you will find yourself resonating with the work. Change is something that we all deal with our daily lives.
