John Boyega Gave An Emotional Speech At London Protest (Video)

John Boyega gave an emotional speech at a London protest to take a stand for the Black Lives Matter movement. Thousands of people were marching in London on Wednesday 3rd June joining many other cities across the world that are protesting against systemic racism.

John Boyega gave an emotional speech at a London protest to take a stand for the Black Lives Matter movement. Thousands of people were marching in London on Wednesday 3rd June joining many other cities across the world that are protesting against systemic racism.

John Boyega, who is 28-years-old, is best known for his acting in The Attack the Block and Star Wars, but on Wednesday he became so much more. Lucasfilm released a statement in support of Boyega, calling him “our hero”. –

 

Many celebrities have been supporting the Black Lives Matter movement but as John Boyega joined the protest and marched in London on Wednesday he took a stand, taking a megaphone to deliver a very passionate speech amongst a large group of protestors in Hyde Park.

“Black lives have always mattered, we have always been important, we have always meant something, we have always succeeded regardless and now is the time… I ain’t waiting,” John Boyega stated.

“Every Black person here remembers the time when another person reminded you that you were Black,” Boyega said. “I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing, and that isn’t the case anymore.”

Boyega asked protesters to be as “peaceful as possible,” stating that the police “want us to mess up, but not today.”

“We stand. We walk. It’s not about career. It’s not about money. It’s about your right to live as a human being,” John Boyega gave his emotional speech and his passion was felt in the delivery of his message that everyone needed to hear.

John Boyega stated in his passionate speech at the protest that he did not know if he would have a career after standing up and saying what he wanted to say, but it did not matter to him. Though everyone so far has shown full support of him.

The Black Lives Matter movement was sparked by the recent death of George Floyd under police custody. On Wednesday 3rd June, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison upgraded the charges against Derek Chauvin to second-degree murder. Along with three additional officers being charged who were involved with aiding and abetting the murder, being J. Alexander Kueng, Tou Thao, and Thomas Lane.
