There are rumours that James Corden may be replacing Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show after she has faced allegations of creating a ‘toxic’ work environment.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show is currently undergoing an internal investigation after several former employees put out claims that they had experienced ‘racism, bullying, and sexual harassment’ on her show.
Now James, who hosts The Late Late Show, may stand a chance to take over the late afternoon show slot amid other rumours that Ellen is preparing to quit her own talk show.
Reports from last week had suggested that Ellen was preparing to leave her show as accusations of her ‘toxic’ behaviour kept increasing.
A show insider told The Daily Mail: “She feels she can’t go on and the only way to recover her personal brand from this is to shut down the show.”
The reports of James taking over first appeared through The Sun, which says according to a source at the series’ network NBC said James has always been seen as her ‘long term successor’, even before Ellen’s troubles began and her scandal went public.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “This issue has fast-tracked everything and made everyone look at the future today.”
“James Corden was being eyed for Ellen’s job in the long term before any of this came to light. Now this shocking new development places a spotlight on the next step.” – The source added.
The source went on to say: “James and his team have been trailblazers in modern TV, taking the once considered graveyard chat show slot into a cutting edge format with huge online, social media and global recognition.”
Though James Corden has trended for a bit on Twitter getting slammed after the rumours of him replacing Ellen DeGeneres surfaced, as many feel he is not any better than she is.
James is said to be contracted to CBS, the network which airs his The Late Late Show, only until 2022. So we’ll see what happens, if the rumours are verified and if James will really be taking over Ellen’s show.
