Three Israeli hostages were released by Hamas as part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Eli Sharabi, Ohad Ben Ami, and Or Levy were handed over in front of heavily armed militants before being transported to safety by the International Red Cross Committee.

Family members expressed deep concern over their condition, with Stephen Brisley, Sharabi’s brother-in-law, describing him as “skinny, pale, and gaunt.” Brisley noted the distressing lack of light in Sharabi’s eyes, reflecting the toll of his captivity.

The Toll of Captivity and Uncertain News

Sharabi’s tragedy extends beyond his captivity—his wife, Lianne, and their children, Noiya and Yahel, were killed in the October 7 attack, along with his brother, Yossi. Brisley fears Sharabi may still be unaware of their deaths.

Negotiations for a second phase, which could involve a full withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, are ongoing.

However, complications, including U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate the Palestinian population, may impact further progress. The conflict has claimed around 1,200 Israeli lives and, according to Gaza’s health ministry, over 47,000 Palestinian lives since the war began.
