Instagram just revamped its Direct Messaging (DM) features, rolling out some exciting updates on Monday!
Now, you can share your live location with friends, making meetups at concerts or crowded places a breeze. Plus, you can personalize your chats with nicknames and enjoy over 300 new stickers.
The new location-sharing feature lets you share your live location for up to one hour. It’s visible only to those in your private DMs (one-on-one or group) and can’t be forwarded to others outside the chat.

The feature is off by default, and you’ll get a “You are sharing your location” indicator in enabled message threads. You can stop sharing anytime.

Nicknames allow you to add fun aliases for yourself or friends in DMs. Think inside jokes or shorter usernames for easy recognition. These nicknames are only visible in DMs and can be changed at any time.
Setting Nicknames On Instagram
To set a nickname, tap on the chat name at the top, select “Nicknames,” and choose the username to edit.
Instagram also introduced 17 new sticker packs, bringing over 300 fresh stickers to your DMs. You can favourite the ones you love, including those shared by friends.
