Greta Thunberg Takes Environmental Fight Virtual With #ClimateStrikeOnline

The fight for the environment has since been taken to social media under the hashtag #climatestrikeonline. This is a continuation of the #fridaysforfuture and #schoolstrikeforclimate strikes that the young activist has been running.

Greta Thunberg’s #climatestrikeonline is global and virtual. Activist Greta Thunberg started the #climatestrikeonline to raise awareness virtually.

In the same way, the youth has adjusted to technology, there is a growing awareness of important issues that the youth has come to take the helm of. The internet has been a great stride in globalisation. The closer the world is brought together through social media, the easier it is to share information. The youth is always on the pulse of what happens around the world.

With this being said, global urbanisation and consumer culture and human culture have paid little to no mind on its effects on nature. Both collectively and as individuals, pay little mind to what we buy or where our rubbish goes. An ongoing crisis against nature is one of such issues that the youth is raising awareness.

Greta Thunberg is one such 17-year-old activist. With a 10.5 million following on Instagram and a Nobel Peace Prize Nomination, this young woman is using her influence to raise awareness on global environmental issues.

The fight for the environment has since been taken to social media under the hashtag #climatestrikeonline. This is a continuation of the #fridaysforfuture and #schoolstrikeforclimate strikes that the young activist has been running. What this simply means is that a crisis cannot be solved until it is treated as a crisis. Greta makes this argument for all other issues that have not stopped to take a break to wait out the covid19 one. Science in fact points towards the destruction of the environment as a possible cause to the spread of the virus.

To join the #climatestrikeonline movement, every Friday you simply upload a picture of you holding up your message on the environmental issue with the hashtag above as a caption. This ensures an ongoing and visible conversation on the global environmental crises.
