Newly released correspondence shows that Jeffrey Epstein referenced “Charles” on the day Prince Andrew stepped down as the UK’s special representative for international trade and investment.

On 21 July 2011 — the same day the announcement was made — Epstein wrote in an email: “I assume he knows that this is Charles doing.” The message was sent in reply to an associate who had written: “Lots of TV coverage on PA and always big feature on you. Insane.”

SurgeZirc UK understands that “PA” refers to Prince Andrew. The Duke of York held the international trade role from 2001 until 2011, a position that connected him with senior government and business figures worldwide.

Andrew withdrew from the post as criticism mounted over his ongoing association with Epstein, the US financier and convicted sex offender. Images of the pair walking together in New York attracted widespread media attention in the months leading up to his departure.

The emails form part of around three million documents made public by the United States Department of Justice. The material offers insight into private exchanges taking place when Andrew’s ties to Epstein were dominating headlines roughly 15 years ago.

Throughout the day Andrew’s resignation became public, Epstein was in regular contact with associates discussing developments. In another message, he wrote: “I’m sure this is good for him, he will now be free.”

Epstein also forwarded a news article about the resignation to Ghislaine Maxwell, who replied simply: “Why?” Epstein responded: “I think he wants to make money.”

The monarch stated: “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.
