England: RFU Grants Contracts To 32 Players

The selection process involved the participation of newly appointed head coach John Mitchell, who will assume his position after the men's World Cup concludes on 28th October.

Lucy Packer, playing for Harlequins, secures the sole scrum-half position while Natasha Hunt from Gloucester-Hartpury is not chosen.

The contracts, which vary in duration, are believed to incorporate a substantial salary increase.

Worcester Warriors wing Lydia Thompson, who received a red card in England’s World Cup final loss to New Zealand in 2022, does not receive a contract.

Hunt, who co-captained Gloucester-Hartpury to victory in the Premier 15s last season and was named player of the year, is excluded.

Two players on contract will soon commence maternity leave, and two additional contracts will be announced later this year.

In April, England defeated France in front of a record-breaking crowd of 58,498 at Twickenham, securing a Grand Slam in the Six Nations.

In June, the RFU offered players new contracts with significant enhancements.
