Friends star David Schwimmer has publicly called on X owner Elon Musk to remove Kanye West from the platform after the rapper, also known as Ye, posted a series of offensive comments.
Many of West’s posts targeted the Jewish community, with some of the most severe statements including “I love Hitler” and “I’m a Nazi.”
West, who has previously faced backlash for antisemitic remarks, also wrote, “I’m never apologising for my Jewish comments.” Schwimmer, who is Jewish, condemned the statements and urged Musk to take swift action.
“Silence is Complicity,” Says Schwimmer
Taking to Instagram, Schwimmer expressed his frustration, saying, “This is so 2022. We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate-filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk.”
He continued, highlighting West’s massive following: “Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That’s twice as many people as the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews.”

Schwimmer also criticized the lack of widespread condemnation, stating, “I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that he identifies as a Nazi (which implies he wants to exterminate ALL marginalized communities, including his own) or the fact that there is not sufficient OUTRAGE to remove and ban him from all social media at this point.”
Kanye West History of Controversy and Calls for Removal
West’s controversial behaviour isn’t new. Just last week, he and his wife, Bianca Censori, sparked a media frenzy at the Grammy Awards when she wore a seemingly transparent dress while standing beside him. However, his social media actions have caused even greater concern.
The rapper has had his X account suspended multiple times due to antisemitic comments. In December 2022, he was banned after posting an image that appeared to depict a swastika inside a Star of David.

Musk stated at the time that the suspension was “for incitement to violence.” However, by July 2023, West’s account was reinstated.
In October 2022, he faced another restriction for antisemitic remarks, leading to a significant fallout, including Adidas severing ties with him. Now, the Campaign Against Antisemitism has joined Schwimmer in urging Musk to take definitive action and permanently remove West from X.
As the backlash intensifies, it remains to be seen whether Musk will take further action against West, or if the rapper will continue to use the platform to spread his controversial views.
