Under the #StayHomeSaveLives campaign, UK citizens will need to find new ways to spend their leisure time. This comes as Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered the shutdown of restaurants, bars and other public places as soon as they can and not to open today, in order to protect people from the COVID-19 virus.
This forced shutdown came as most people still ignored instructions by the government, informing them to stay away from pubs and clubs.
The police will take strict measures to enforce this ban. On Friday evening the Prime Minister held a press conference explaining that the lockdown will be closely monitored, reviewing the situation monthly in order to know when these public sectors can be open for business again.
Chancellor Sunak informed the public that the government will protect as many jobs and incomes as the possibly can. He informed the public that the government will pay 80% of wages for people who can’t attend work due to the COVID-19 virus.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson also tweeted: “As far as possible we want you to stay at home”, this comes as a hospital in London indicated that there is a shortage of ICU beds
Mr Jamie, a twitter user responded on my tweet, saying that “people will now be drinking indoors, since pubs are closed”
