Boris Johnson Stands Firm By Dominic Cummings Side As They Both Face Backlash

The initial backlash directed towards Senior Adviser Dominic Cummings has now been shifted towards Boris Johnson, after coming to Mr Cummings’ defense. Mr Johnson stands firm in his decision to defend his chief aide’s actions due to the nature of them being deemed necessary.

“Though there have been many other allegations about what happened when he was in self-isolation and thereafter some of them palpably false, I believe that in every respect he has acted responsibly and legally and with integrity”.

Said Mr Johnson in his latest statement pertaining to the matter of Mr Cummings breaching lockdown restrictions to get assistance with the care-taking of his son, during a time when his wife was showing symptoms of coronavirus.

The two-some have since been vulnerable to receiving backlash from both conservative and labour sides of parliament, one politician said that “Cummings is now doing real damage to the government and prime minister. Anyone else would have recognized that by now and would have resigned”.

The demand for Mr Cummings to resign has been great, however the onus to carry this through was also placed on Boris Johnson who has concluded that his chief aide will keep his position regardless of him having broken lockdown restrictions.

Part of the backlash is due to the double-standards that have been identified because of the situation, as Dominic Cummings has not been subjected to receiving any type of punishment that a normal citizen would have been obliged to had they broken the lockdown restrictions.

Further putting the government’s integrity into question, however Mr Johnson has chosen to stand by his chief aide’s side despite the backlash.
