Arnold Schwarzenegger gave a commencement speech that inspired the class of 2020. He gave a message that was clear and honest, telling the recent graduates to have a vision.
Schwarzenegger is known as an A-list actor and former Californa Governor, he starred in several Terminator movies, Total Recall, Predator, and much more.
Snapchat asked Arnold Schwarzenegger to start off their week of commencements this past Sunday via ATTN. Schwarzenegger happily agreed and delivered an address to all the recent graduates who could not have their ceremonies as planned, he truly inspired us all with what he had to say.
In the commencement speech, Arnold Schwarzenegger sends a message across that there are many obstacles in life to face and overcome, the coronavirus pandemic may seem like it is the biggest obstacle right now but more obstacles would come throughout life.
Schwarzenegger told graduates that they need to have a clear and reachable goal that would help motivate them to move past any obstacle that the graduates will face in their lives.
Arnold Schwarzenegger used his own personal example of an obstacle he faced in life that was very challenging, the actor recounts how in 2018 he had to have his second emergency heart valve surgery that could have killed him.
Shwarzenegiegger thought it would be a simple procedure to replace a heart valve but he ended up having to fight for his health as things got worse and he had to go back into surgery, but he had a vision and he kept to it.
Arnold Schwarzenegger had to endure rehab and get his health back into shape so that he could get back to acting in his star role in the new Terminator movie on August 1, and he did it. Schwarzenegger focused on his vision and got to where he wanted to be.
During Arnold Schwarzenegger’s commencement speech, he quoted Marcus Aurelius, who was one the ‘greatest minds among the Roman emperors’, the quote is, “What stands in the way becomes the way.”
Schwarzenegger went on to say, “Now what does that mean? That means that a life will be always about obstacles in front of you and it is the way to overcome those obstacles is nothing unusual. That’s the way it is.”
“So when you know your vision, every setback, every stepping stone, every struggle, all resistance builds your inner strength, builds your character, makes you stronger as a person,” added Schwarzenegger.
A funny thing to see at the end of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s commencement speech is that once he ends off and leaves the podium he asks, “How did it go?”. The responses were, “Arnold you’re not wearing pants!”, and another man shouts, “We’re still rolling!” Schwarzeneggers responded by saying “My calves look okay, so don’t worry about my pants now.”
This was a very encouraging commencement speech for the class of 2020 that inspired graduates from all over. The clip can be found on ATTN’s and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Instagram feed –

Because of coronavirus, you are graduating into a world filled with obstacles, so I wanted you to know that no matter how successful you are, there will always be obstacles. But you can overcome and move toward your vision. Europeans don’t talk about medical issues much, we protect them like state secrets. Maybe it’s a sign I’m Americanized, but I wanted to share the story of my heart surgery going south four months before Terminator. I hope it gives you motivation in these hard times.
