Antstream Arcade, a gaming company, is offering a vast collection of more than 1,300 retro game titles on Xbox One and Series X/S.
Noteworthy classics like Space Invaders, Metal Slug, and Bubble Bobble are among the titles available.
The company boasts that these games can be played instantly without the need for additional downloads or installation, thanks to its cloud gaming platform.
Furthermore, Antstream Arcade plans to continuously add more titles to its collection on a weekly basis.
This is a significant development as Antstream will become the first third-party game streaming service on Xbox.
The service will provide support for cloud-based game saves, an online scoreboard, and the convenience of picking up your game progress from multiple devices.
While Antstream Arcade is already accessible on various platforms such as Mac, PC, Linux, Android TV, Firestick, and Samsung TVs, its availability on Xbox marks its debut on a gaming console.
Antstream Arcade claims to employ its unique technology to modify original games, resulting in the creation of new mini-game challenges that cater to both new and returning players.
For instance, players can engage in a modified Pac-Man map where the primary objective is to avoid collecting the dots.
Additionally, players will have the opportunity to participate in tournaments, challenge other players to duels, or compete for high scores.
It is worth noting that Microsoft already has its own Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming service, which can be accessed via a native app on Android, Windows, Samsung smart TVs, and select VR headsets.
While Xbox Cloud Gaming is also available on iOS and Mac, access is limited to web browsers.
However, it is important to highlight that Xbox Cloud Gaming primarily focuses on enabling players to enjoy modern titles away from their consoles, whereas Antstream Arcade is solely dedicated to evoking nostalgia and reliving classic gaming experiences.
Antstream Arcade on Xbox is now available for pre-order on the Xbox store.
The pricing structure begins at an annual fee of £29.99, with an alternative one-time lifetime purchase option priced at £79.99.
The company assures customers that all future games and new features will be included, regardless of the chosen purchase option.
