Anthony Davis Turns Down Lakers $146 Million 4-Year Extension Contract

Anthony Davis has turned down a 4-year extension contract worth $146 million with the LA Lakers. This, however, does not mean that he will be leaving the team though.

Anthony Davis has turned down a 4-year extension contract worth $146 million with the LA Lakers. This, however, does not mean that he will be leaving the team though.

The LA Lakers will be coming back to Anthony Davis on 1 July 2020 with an offer for him to sign a 5-year extension contract worth $202 million instead.

Although the 5-year contract means that Davis would get almost an extra $4million per year, according to Bill Oram of The Athletic, Davis may also be looking to turn down this offer as well and instead opt for a 3-year contract.

Why you may ask…well let break it down…

The 3-year extension is more favourable for Davis as it would most likely come with a player option allowing him to test free agency in the final year.

At that time Anthony Davis will still be at his prime as he will be 29 years old in 2022.

At that time he would also qualify as a 10-year veteran with the LA Lakers allowing him to sign a contract worth 35% of the projected $125 million salary cap. READ MORE…..
