Rappers Akon and Tekashi 6ix9ine plan to collaborate with each other on a new version of ‘Locked Up’, this remix will be the first collaboration for Tekashi since his release from prison.
Tekashi 6ix9ine, who is 24 years old, shared a video of himself and Akon in his house on Instagram June 7th and revealed their plans to collaborate as the pair were listening to a new version of ‘Locked Up’, with the updates being new verses of Tekashi’s life story.
The original version released by Akon in 2004 reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart. With this new version looking to gain even more attention for both rappers, Tekashi refers to the song in his post as “Locked Up Part 2”.
Akon and Tekashi 6ix9ine can be seen having a good time with each other, mouthing the lyrics along with each other. Some of Tekashi’s bars include, “Got me wishing I could take it all back. Fighting with these demons, bearly even eating, bearly even sleeping.”
“This sh*t got me drinking. Fighting with my lawyers for a better offer, just want to see my daughter.” Tekashi is basically telling his story of a rappers’ life entering the music industry and getting arrested because of gang activity.
Though some fans feel that a remix of ‘Locked Up’ will be messing up the classic song that gave Akon his good reputation. Here are a few replies to a post from Akon on Twitter about his collaboration with Tekashi 6ix9ine-
