Oscar Piastri delivered a flawless performance at the Chinese Grand Prix, leading a dominant McLaren one-two finish ahead of teammate Lando Norris. The victory marks McLaren’s second consecutive win of the season after Norris’ impressive wet-weather triumph in Melbourne.
Starting from pole position, Piastri controlled the race from start to finish, briefly losing the lead only during the pit stop phase. Despite Norris staying within four seconds for most of the race, the Australian remained composed, never allowing his teammate or rivals a real chance to challenge his lead.
Norris Battles Brake Issues to Hold Off Russell
While Piastri cruised to victory, Norris had his hands full in the closing laps, struggling with fading brakes. Despite the challenge, he managed to keep Mercedes’ George Russell at bay, securing a crucial second-place finish.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc put in a strong drive despite a damaged front wing, forcing his team to order Lewis Hamilton to let him through.
However, the Ferrari driver lost fourth place to a late-charging Max Verstappen just four laps from the finish. Meanwhile, Hamilton—who won the sprint race on Saturday—made a second pit stop, dropping him further down the order.

McLaren’s Strategy Pays Off in Title Fight
Piastri’s victory, the third of his Formula 1 career, was built on the foundation of his maiden pole position. A strong start saw him fend off Russell, allowing Norris to seize second place in the opening corners.
From there, the McLaren duo managed their race perfectly, navigating pit-stop battles and strategic calls to maintain control.
