Amazon, the largest e-commerce platform worldwide, has recently introduced passkey logins to provide users with a more secure way to access their accounts.
This new login solution is considered to be more secure than traditional passwords and allows users to use their biometrics or PIN to unlock their devices and access their Amazon accounts.

The passkey support feature was rolled out a few days ago and is now available on browsers. It is gradually being made available to all users accessing Amazon through its iOS app, with support for Amazon’s Android application coming soon.
Passkeys offer enhanced security as they are resistant to phishing attacks, data leaks, and social engineering. Unlike passwords, there are no passwords to steal or give away.
Passkeys use cryptographic pairs, with one public key stored on the service’s servers and the other private key securely saved on the user’s device. These unique pairs must match for a successful login.
Passkey logins are a simpler alternative to two-factor authentication. However, Amazon does not automatically switch off two-factor authentication for users who enable passkey support.

According to Amazon’s FAQs, users with two-factor authentication enabled will still need to verify their identities with a one-time code, even after activating the passkey login option. It is unclear if users will be required to enter two-factor codes after their initial login with a passkey.
To enable passkey login, users simply need to go to the Login Settings section of their Amazon account and follow the instructions to set up their passkey. Once enabled, users can enjoy the convenience and enhanced security of passkey logins.
