Israel’s national security adviser, Tzachi Hanegbi, has predicted potential US involvement in the escalating Israel-Hamas war if Iran and Hezbollah join to fight alongside Hamas.
Hanegbi made these comments during a televised briefing, highlighting President Biden’s public warning to Hezbollah and Iran to stay out of the conflict and the deployment of US Navy carrier strike groups to the Eastern Mediterranean.
During the briefing, Hanegbi stated, “He is making clear to our enemies that if they even imagine taking part in the offensive against the citizens of Israel, there will be American involvement here.
Israel will not be alone… A US force is here and it is ready.” Although Hanegbi did not provide further details, his statement indicates the US’s commitment to supporting Israel in its defense against potential threats.
It is important to note that the Pentagon has clarified that no US troops have been deployed, and there has been no indication of immediate deployment to the battlefield.
However, the US Department of Defense issued “be ready to deploy” orders for 2,000 troops on Monday. These troops would primarily serve in advisory roles and provide medical support for Israeli forces, should the need arise.
President Biden is actively working with other world leaders to prevent the war from escalating into a broader regional conflict. His upcoming visit to the region underscores the seriousness of the situation and the commitment to finding a peaceful resolution.
The deployment of US Navy carrier strike groups serves as a deterrent to potential aggressors and demonstrates the US’s readiness to protect its allies.
Meanwhile, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reiterated that Iran will not intervene to stop Hamas.
He warned that if Israel continues its airstrikes, which he referred to as “crimes,” resistance forces will become impatient, and no one will be able to prevent their actions.
Khamenei emphasized the need for an immediate cessation of bombardments, as Muslim nations are growing increasingly angry.
