Chris Christie answered Donald Trump’s attacks, deriding his weight, considering the previous president a “bully on the schoolyard.”
In an interview that aired on Sunday, the former governor responded, “Oh what, like he’s some Adonis?” when asked about Trump’s previous remarks on Fox News’ “MediaBuzz.”
“There are tens of millions of Americans, out in your audience watching right now, who, like me, have struggled with their weight. I continue to struggle. I continue to try to do better, and so do they,” Christie said.
“What’s that got to do with my competence for office? I ran the governorship of New Jersey for eight years,” Christie added, calling Trump a “child” and a “bully on the schoolyard who teases you and makes fun of you.”
The former Trump ally also said, “I don’t care what he says about me, and I don’t care what he thinks about me, and he should take a look in the mirror every once in a while — maybe he’d drop the weight thing off of his list of criticisms.”
Christie has previously responded to Trump’s remarks about his weight. The previous president recently shared a video altered to affront Christie over his weight, showing the last representative lead in a doctored cut holding a plate of food and remaining before a smorgasbord while sending off his official bid.

At the time, Christie told CNN, “If we had a child who behaved that way, we would send them to their room, not the White House.”
In a video released last week, Trump claimed he had been instructed not to “punch down” on Republican rivals, arguing that “sometimes it’s necessary to talk badly about those that, for no reason other than politics, speak badly about you.”
