President Joe Biden threw some people off after his speech on Friday at the National Safer Communities Summit in Connecticut.
At the University of Hartford, Biden gave a 30-minute speech to advocates for gun safety and victims of gun violence. At the end of his speech, he said, “All right? Man, God save the Queen.

Soon after, “God Save the Queen” became a trending topic on Twitter, and many people expressed their confusion and criticized the error.
Many wondered if Biden was referring to Britain’s longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September. On September 19, Biden went to the queen’s funeral.
The Dallas Morning News White House correspondent Todd Gillman reported on Biden’s speech and stated that he and other pool reporters did not comprehend the remark’s intended meaning.

“Several of you have asked me why he might have said that,” Gillman wrote Friday. “I have no idea. Other poolers likewise have no idea.”
During his speech, the president advocated for a number of gun control measures, including the ban on AR-15s and universal background checks, and he voiced his disapproval that there is gun violence “every damn day in America.”
Regarding gun violence, Biden stated in his Connecticut speech that he would never back down.
“A lot of you are tired. You’re tired. No, I get it. Try being 110 and doing it again,” Biden said. “Whether your Democrat or Republic, we all want families to be safe. We all want to drop them off at a house of worship, a mall, a movie, a school door without worrying that’s the last time we’re ever see them.”

Toward the end of the speech at the National Safer Communities Summit in Connecticut, Biden said he usually stays to shake hands but had to leave early because of a storm coming.
Biden stated, “That’s the truth; now, don’t lie.” Don’t make me into a dog-faced, liar pony soldier, like in the John Wayne movie scene.’
