Heartwarming messages have begun pouring out for Camilla from British royals with Prince William and wife Kate Middleton leading the tributes.
Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall who had been married to Prince Charles has reached her 74th milestone today. Her stepson Prince William and Kate took to Twitter and Instagram to wish her a happy birthday.
The Duchess of Cornwall started dating Prince Charles back in 1970 before he left to serve in the Royal Navy. Camilla was engaged to Andrew Parker Bowles, who she married in 1973, by the time Prince Charles got back.
Charles – who married Princess Diana in 1981 – later had an affair with Camilla. In 1994, Charles admitted he had cheated on Diana and a year later, Camilla announced her divorce from Andrew.
The Cambridges shared a picture of William’s stepmother, smiling wearing an off-white dress on Twitter captioned: “Wishing The Duchess of Cornwall a very happy birthday today!” along with a balloon emoji.
Prince William and Kate posted the same message on Instagram and added a picture of Camilla wearing a navy and cream spotted dress with a coordinating navy jacket.
Many joined the Cambridges on social media in celebrating the life of Camilla.
One said: “Happy birthday Camilla. Have the best of days.”
Another added: “She’s the best of the whole bunch. Happy birthday Duchess of Cornwall Camilla.”
A third said: “Happy Birthday to The Duchess of Cornwall! Love her always and may she have a great year ahead of her.”
