A youngster was clubbed to death in Cheshire for letting out his sexual relationship with a 19-year-old man.
Alex Rodda, a schoolboy had been paid more that £2,000 to keep his relationship with Matthew Mason a secret. After the 15-year-old revealed to Mason`s girlfriend that he had sent him explicit photos and a video, the older teenager bludgeoned him to death in the woods last year on 12 December, the court heard.
The youngster had also told the older teenager`s then girlfriend that he received “flirty” messages from him which made him uncomfortable as he felt it was wrong “because he was a male and, secondly, his age”.
Mason denied the allegations to his girlfriend but admitted killing Rodda claiming that lost control and the youngster blackmailed him and tried to attack him before his death.
The 19-year-old was found guilty by a majority of jurors at Chester crown court on Thursday and will be sentenced at a later date.
Rodda was described by his family as a “wonderful, gentle, loving, kind, caring, respectful boy who loved life and lived life to the full but had his “precious life cut short all too soon at the hands of Matthew Mason.”
The family said Mason had “attempted to blame Alex and discredit his name throughout this trial, and thankfully the jury was able to see through his web of deceit”.
On the night of the brutal attack Mason picked the youngster up from his home in Tabley, Cheshire and took him to a remote spot, the trial heard.
