Supported by several election officials in Georgia 159 counties, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced Wednesday that following the slim vote margin between Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, the state will begin a hand count of the presidential race.

Raffensperger, a Republican stressing why the hand count is necessary said, “This will help build confidence. It will be an audit, a recount, and a recanvass all at once. It will be a heavy lift, but we will work with the counties to get this done in time for our state certification,”
Raffensperger whose wife reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus said he hopes the audit can begin this week, but counties have until Friday to certify their respective results.
Currently, 98 of Georgia’s 159 counties have certified their results. The state’s certification deadline is November 20, and Raffensperger said the hand count will take every bit of the time that is remaining.
