Red Hook Studios announced the sequel to its hit RPG ‘Darkest Dungeon’ back in February 2019, but at least, there’s a clue to when you’ll be able to check it out. Darkest Dungeon II will be available in early access in 2021.
Things are promised to look a little be different this time, as Red Hook adopted a stylized 3D approach for the sequel, using rendering techniques and assets from the upcoming game to create a teaser trailer.
“Darkest Dungeon II is about hope, grit and determination. It reminds us that in times of crisis, we can’t wait for salvation, we have to find it ourselves — earn it, in spite of our weaknesses,” Red Hook wrote in a blog post.
Red Hook’s studio assured that the sequel will have a polished combat system and a “whole new metagame,” it will also come with more enemies and challenges to conquer. You can wishlist the game on Epic Games Store.
Red Hook has also launched a board game adaptation of Darkest Dungeon on Kickstarter. In the co-op tabletop RPG, gamers will play campaigns of 11 missions as they try to vanquish the horrors of the darkest dungeon while avoiding the perils of permadeath.
The project has already met its funding objective, and Red Hook is considering shipping the board game next October next year.
