A 30-year-old man sustained injuries following a serious roadside argument in south London in the early hours of July 21.
After a serious disputation in Croydon, a Mini Clubman driver crushed the victim and pinned him against his van. The young man remains in hospital after sustaining severe pelvic injuries.
The man was with a colleague in Whitehorse Road a few minutes after midnight when the colleague became involved in a verbal clash with a man in a beige Mini Clubman.
A while later the two got into their van and drove off, but noticed that the Mini had started pursuing them. When the pair pulled over to confront the driver, the motorist deliberately drove at them, crushing the victim against the van.
Detective Constable Angharad Morgan, who is leading the investigation, said: “It is unclear what led to the altercation between the victim’s friend and the man driving the Mini.
“However, this disagreement escalated to serious violence that is totally unacceptable and resulted in significant injuries for one of the men.
“Although this happened in the early hours of the morning, this incident took place on a busy stretch of road near to a carwash. Did you witness anything out of the ordinary or see the collision itself? Did you see a beige Mini Clubman leaving the scene?
“Likewise, I would ask anyone who may have driven along this stretch of road in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, July, 21 to check their dashcam for any footage of this incident. Any information that you can provide could be key to our investigation.”
The police have asked anyone with information which might help in the investigation to call them on 101 quoting CAD 4813/23JUL20.
