Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the 2020 TV BAFTAs are being held in a closed studio after the original date was postponed following government advice, the event was originally scheduled for May 17th.

Actor and comedian Richard Ayoade, having previously won a BAFTA, will be making his debut as host of the ceremony with nominees invited to get involved virtually through video link-ups.

Richard Ayoade will be joined in the studio by some guest presenters, as a host of stars have been lined up to present the awards themselves.

Stacey Dooley, Emily Atack, Tom Allen, Jessica Hynes, Greg Davies, and Normal People duo Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal will be among those joining him in the studio, while others will announce award winners online.

The full list of nominations for the BAFTA Television Awards 2020 was announced earlier this month.

It’s worthy to note that BAFTA has responded to criticism of its lack of diversity by nominating three times as many BAME actors and performers compared to 2019. Meaning that overall there is a 22% increase of nominees of colour across the performance categories this year.

Make sure not to miss out on the Virgin Media BAFTAs on Friday 31st July from 19.00 BST on BBC One.
