Police Forces Record The Highest Increase In Violent Deaths In The UK

This year there has been a very significant increase in the number violent incidents and deaths recorded by the Metropolitan Police.

This year there has been a very significant increase in the number of violent incidents and deaths recorded by the Metropolitan Police.

A young man believed to be in his 20s was gunned down in north London on Wednesday. Following reports of a shooting, police officers and paramedics rushed to the scene at Beaconsfield Road, Edmonton at around 9 pm, Scotland Yard said.

They pronounced that the young man had died at the scene.

In a tweet, Enfield Borough MPS said: “Police are on scene following a fatal shooting on Beaconsfield Road, N9, at approx. 21:00hrs. Despite efforts of officers and paramedics, a man in his mid-20s was pronounced dead at the scene. A crime scene has been put in place. There have been no arrests. Enquiries continue.”

This month the Metropolitan Police recorded the highest number of violent deaths since the beginning of the year. The force`s crime data website show a rapid increase in homicides, with eight in May, in June sixteen recorded so far in July.

The figures in March and April had been slightly above average, with twelve homicides recorded in each month, a rise fro seven in February and eleven in January.

The killing of the young man followed the incident which took place a week ago, where three teenagers were gunned down in Haringey, north London. The police are still investigating the events which led to the shooting.
