‘Katy Keene’ has found a new home for season one after being cancelled and is set to air in the UK for the first time ever later this month on BBC iPlayer.
A lot of the cast and fans felt heartbroken after it was revealed that the series had been cancelled after only producing one season. ‘Katy Keene’ has already aired in America on The CW and HBO Max, and will soon air over in the UK.
The Riverdale spin-off is based on the series of the Archie Comics character named Katy Keene. The show follows the lives of four New Yorkers each with their own dreams on how to make it big in the worlds of fashion, music, Broadway, and the arts.
‘Katy Keene’ shows the good times and bad times of making a name for yourself in the Big Apple, with fashion designer Katy Keene, played by Lucy Hale, singer Josie McCoy, played by Ashleigh Murray, performer Jorge Lopez/Ginger, played by Jonny Beauchamp, and ‘It Girl’ Pepper Smith, played by Julia Chan. –
The lead actress Lucy Hale addressed her fans in an emotional video on Instagram last week sharing how heartbroken she was about the cancellation of the series. –
“I kind of struggled all day with what I wanted to say about this, or if I shouldn’t say anything, but nothing felt right,” Lucy began.
She said she didn’t want to ‘post a picture’ because ‘nothing would do justice’ to how she feels about Katy Keene and the people that were involved with it.
Lucy added that she wants fans to continue to watch and support her show, which she thinks is ‘timeless’ even though ‘sometimes things don’t work out.’
“Maybe it just was not the right time for it? I don’t know, I’m confused,” Lucy said, adding that the show is now on HBO Max.
The initial report from Deadline indicated the producers of ‘Katy Keene’ would be seeking a new home for the series, which may be HBO Max, where the show is currently streaming, though it seems that BBC iPlayer is the next step for now.
Hopes should not be set high for seeing any further seasons any time soon as the show was unfortunately cancelled by its US network, The CW, earlier this month.
‘Katy Keene’ will officially air in the UK on BBC iPlayer on July 25th.
