Republic has urged the Royal Family to “do the right thing” and strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their Duke and Duchess titles.
Since the dramatic decision to shake things up in a major way and leave the royal lives last year, the review into the Duke and Duchess`s relationship with the monarchy hasn`t been conducted yet.
The CEO of the Republic, Graham Smith said: “Harry and Meghan should have done the right thing when they first left the Royal Family which was to renounce their titles and immediately renounce any claim on any public expenditure whatsoever.
“So this review needs to confirm that is going to happen. Anything short of that or any compromise where they can have their cake and eat it is not going to be good for the UK at all.”
However, experts believe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do not require an in-depth Megxit review since they are already aligning according to Queen Elizabeth`s wishes.
A royal correspondent Katie Nicholl said: “My understanding from the Sussexes camp is that there has been communication with the Queen, Prince Charles and with William as well. The general feeling is that this [current situation] is working.”
“This isn’t to say that people are not watching closely what these deals are, what the couple are doing and what these projects are going to be. But there is not this need to have this review one year on,” she explained.
