Oprah Winfrey gave an impressive endorsement of a luxury instant latte that Meghan Markle gave to her as a “Christmas gift,” only hours before the Duchess of Sussex announced she’s an investor in the brand.
Oprah Winfrey shared an Instagram video early Monday morning flaunting an enormous gift basket of drinks from California based Clevr, which bills itself as “woman-led, mission-driven wellness company.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have long been friends with Oprah and her BFF Gayle King, and the couple lives close to the media mogul in their $14 million Montecito, California, mansion.
In the Instagram video, Oprah styled how to make one of the company’s oat milk and turmeric drinks. She captioned it: “On the first day of Christmas my neighbour ‘M’ sent to me… A basket of deliciousness!” She added, not so subtly, “Yes that M” — alongside a crown emoji.
She added that the $28-a-bag beverage is her “new drink of choice for the morning and night. Wish I had @clevrblends sooner cause I would’ve added it to my Favourite Things list.”
That was a huge favour from Oprah to her long time friend Meghan Meghan. Not quite long after Oprah shared the video, Fortune magazine disclosed that Markle has recently invested in Clevr.
Markle told Page Six of her investment in the brand, which is headed by co-founder and CEO Hannah Mendoza, “This investment is in support of a passionate female entrepreneur who prioritizes building community alongside her business.
“I’m proud to invest in Hannah’s commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and has a holistic approach to wellness. I believe in her and I believe in her company.”
The Duchess of Sussex reached out to the Clevr team after trying and appreciating the company’s product, which debuted in 2017 and is currently based in Montecito.

It’s not immediately clear how much cash Meghan Markle invested in the business. Clevr, which currently has six employees, now plans to use the investment to build its business, which presently sells four different kinds of instant lattes.
“Entrepreneurs need funding, but they also need advisers who care deeply about what they are building. I’m grateful to have found both in the Duchess of Sussex. Her passion for what we’re creating is palpable, and I couldn’t imagine a more aligned partnership. We’re excited for the road ahead,” Mendoza said.
