Brexiteers are furious after seeing a pro-EU protest group vandalised 27 ‘Welcome to Kent’ entry signs, replacing the usual “The Garden of England” slogan with “The Toilet of England” using scissors and stickers. EU Flag Mafia, a group established basically to oppose Brexit, has admitted being behind the stunt.
It looks like ‘toilet of England’ is a reference to lorry drivers needing the loo if they get stuck in traffic jams after the Brexit transition period by the end of the year since it’s anticipated that increased checks will cause traffic jam around major ports like Dover.
As it stands, the government is working to negotiate a new trade deal with the EU, to prevent both the UK and EU trading on World Trade Organisation (WTO) terms from the beginning of January 2021.
Addressing the issues with The Guardian a spokesman for the EU Flag Mafia said, “It is utter madness. Just this week they tested the border controls at Dover and there were tailbacks as far as the eye could see.
“There were even headlines about it in the New York Times. We are an international laughing stock. Something has to be done: there are already bottles of urine thrown in laybys and bags of excrement hanging off trees. It is all set to get much worse. People around here have had enough.”
Moreover, on Tuesday a five-mile queue was seen around Dover as French authorities conducted a test of the checks that are likely to come into effect at the beginning of January 2021 after the transition period has ended.
There was another report of traffic jams on Friday which Eurotunnel say could be as a result of “Christmas and Brexit stockpiling”.
However, the EU Flag Mafia stunt has been condemned by a number of Brexiteers on social media, with someone from Yorkshire saying, “The petulant, infantile antics of swivel-eyed Remainers never ceases to amaze.”
Another added: “Loopy left sink to toilet level yet again.”
