Little Mix`s Jade Thirwill has explained the “rationale” behind the raunchy lyrics in Confetti following the release of the album last week.
The 27-year-old singer said her band has been under attack for the lyrics in their new album which was accompanied by the sexy videos sparking calls for them to review their content.
Jade said her mother had blasted her for “having her a** out” after their music video Sweet Melody was released. In the new video, she appeared in a sheer thong bodysuit which she teamed with fishnet tights to flaunt her peach derriere.
The singer said she had gained new curves as she was overeating throughout the lockdown.
“Me mam called us once the video dropped. She was like, `Jade, firstly, why have you got your a*** out? Secondly, where has that a*** come from?`, the singer said.
“She was like, `What have you been eating in lockdown, hun?` I was like, `It just came out of nowhere`. “All I’ve done in lockdown is eat pies. Just constantly eating. Maybe I’m just growing into a woman. But the video’s gone down so well.”
Responding to critics of their words her band sang in Confetti, Jade said it`s “empowering for women to sing about sex. “We’re always going to write and record music from personal experience, and yeah we’re grown women, and we have sex,” she told The Sun.
Jade made reference to Cardi B and Meghan Three Stallion`s song WAP and said, “I’m so for women being in control of their sexual experiences and singing about it. It’s great.”
